Following the dust-up at Seldon’s Noctis-Qianjiao apartment complex, the Prometheus Syndicate takes steps to ensure that our rogue Firewall Sentinels will be apprehended–dead or alive. Someone claiming to be Gavin makes a terrorist threat through the entire population’s entoptics, challenging the citizens to find the team and deal with them before they can escape, or a series of bombs will detonate within the city. Now, the group’s only hope for surviving the ordeal might be an unexpected ally: Zora, the Anarchist saboteur who worked with them aboard the Ecstatic Metamorphosis. Can they slip through the streets without arousing the suspicions of the Noctis-Qianjiao police or a horde of panicked citizens? Burned out of Firewall, on the run from the Planetary Consortium, our team of former Sentinels must act quickly to make some fast cred and acquire fake ego IDs. They decide to contact Gavin’s criminal associate Abebe on Mars, who sends them to the Nine Lives stronghold Legba in the Main Belt, a place where ego slavers exchange minds like currency. If they can liberate the stack of Abebe’s long-lost wife from a pair of violent Lost nutcases, he’ll give them the money and identities they need to infiltrate the inner system and strike back at the Prometheus Syndicate. Not only that, but they’ll also have to keep Dalton’s morph fed with fresh blood, involuntarily participating in a bizarre sociological experiment devised by rogue machine gods. Can they navigate a treacherous ice passage, escape a crowd of mindless exsurgents, and figure out the secret behind the mysterious life-sustaining plants that the TITANs have bestowed upon the village, or will they once again be swept up in their own petty squabbling?
