In the interest of full disclosure, I’m going to get this out of the way right now: I liked “Final Fantasy XIII.” There, I said it. I thought it was a good game, and I enjoyed the combat system.

So I was already looking forward to the awkwardly named sequel, “Final Fantasy XIII-2.” But then I saw this seven-minute trailer, and now I’m really pumped.

(trailer and more after the jump)

You know what I see in this trailer? I see Square Enix saying, “See? We can still make a Final Fantasy game!” The trailer shows off moogles, minigames and towns — all of the things people criticized FFXIII for lacking.

But personally, I think it looks pretty sick. Travelling through time seems like it could be an interesting mechanic, and Hope doesn’t seem as incessantly whiny this time. The only thing that makes me want to punch him in the face now is his stupid tie!

What do you think of the trailer? Are you excited for FFXIII-2? Let us know in the comments.
