I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it many times again: the Internet is full of people with way too much free time on their hands. As today’s piece of evidence, I submit the following video, irrefutable proof that at least one gentleman out there has leisure time to burn. Matt Mulholland, musical comedian and YouTube contributor, took it upon himself to record a one-man a capella soundtrack to one of the most iconic scenes in “Back to the Future,” a childhood favorite of mine, and my God, does he pull it off spectacularly! Alan Silvestri’s epic score is one of the more hummable cinematic accompaniments ever written, and Mr. Mulholland takes that childhood urge that makes us want to sing along and turns it up to 11. Check out the video after the break; I hope you enjoy it!

If there’s one thing that my nearly obsessive attention to internet pop culture has taught me over the past few years, it’s that OK Go can usually be counted on to produce entertaining and innovative videos. From their breakout hit, the treadmill dance set to “Here It Goes Again,” to the clockwork timing of the Rube Goldberg device in the “This Too Shall Pass” video, OK Go has successfully redefined the standard of things that make people say, “Isn’t that neat?” time and time again. Earlier this week, they carved another notch into the online collective consciousness with their cover of the theme from “The Muppet Show,” a video that combines the quirky style of their viral vids with the new tradition of Muppet YouTube antics. Watch this, and I guarantee you will be entertained.

The Gregory Brothers, those geniuses of auto-tuning, have worked their magic spell yet again, this time on an eHarmony dating video made by a woman who is overwhelmed by her love for cats. Not only does this video feature a hilarious and catchy tune, it also contains tons and tons of adorable kitties dancing and playing instruments, not to mention a fabulous insert of the Nyan cat meme. Apparently, The Gregorys also have a new app, called ‘Songify,’ out for the iPhone and iTouch, which, as an Android user, makes me both excited and irritated. Oh well. Maybe they’ll come to their senses and put up an Android version soon.

Anywho, enjoy! (Video after the break.)

As nerds, we’ve all been there before. We find ourselves engrossed in something — be it a television series, film franchise or comic book storyline — and it is fantastic! We enjoy every second of it, waiting with baited breath for the next installment. This joy, however, is short-lived. Maybe the network assigns a new executive producer to the project, someone with “exciting new ideas” about where the series should go. Maybe a writer comes on board who feels the need to raze the world his predecessors have so carefully created to the ground, so that he, in his infinite genius, can rebuild it by his own design. Whatever the cause, these awesome series turned into the ultimate disappointments, mere shadows of what they once were. In this episode, we tackle several of our favorite awesome disappointments, along with a brood of mind-controlling lava worms. So join the Rag-NERD-rok crew for a blitz expedition deep into the catacombs of good stories gone bad, where creative hijacking, network interference, and sometimes just plain hubris take the most excellently told tales and drive them face first into the ground!
