This week, Alex, Ryan, Meyer, Derek, Ed, James, Chris and Will sit down for a chat about the recently completed Eclipse Phase campaign, The Promethean Chronicles. We cover our favorite moments, the biggest surprises, things we wish we could have done differently, and the ultimate fate of our characters. In addition, Alex discusses some of his ideas that never made it to the table, as well as a proposal for a short sequel campaign. If you’ve enjoyed Alex’s Eclipse Phase games, join us for a look back on the laughs, the violence, and the existential horror that kept us going for 29 sessions!

One of the most intriguing aspects of science fiction and fantasy is their ability to transport us to other worlds, often incredibly detailed fictional places with their own elaborate histories. In this episode, we discuss some examples of works in these genres that spark our imaginations, as well as what makes them so evocative. From tenacious, resourceful characters to highly advanced technological toys, each element contributes something unique to these worlds, helping us to share in their creators’ vision. After the break, we recommend some of our favorite sci-fi and fantasy media for your future enjoyment, and Meyer puts our knowledge of obscure sci-fi titles to the test. So grab your ray guns, deely boppers and rings of true power, and prepare yourselves for another thought-provoking discussion with The Rag-NERD-rok Crew!

From the minds of five ordinary nerds comes a tour-de-force of bad fan fiction, a derivative work so puerile, so debauched, so nonsensical that we devoted an entire episode to exploring its murky depths. Each member of the Rag-NERD-rok Crew comes to the table with a different intellectual property in the hopes of creating a five-way crossover fic that will leave you stunned–preferably in a good way, but we’ll take whatever stunned reactions we can get. The result is part fanfic, part role play, part improvised musical, and completely, hilariously terrible from beginning to end. Join us for a ret-conning, fourth-wall-shattering, Gary-Stu-creating extravaganza of an episode, this month on Rag-NERD-rok!

In this month’s episode, four members of The Rag-NERD-rok Crew step up to answer one of the toughest questions facing Marvel geeks for the past fifty years: just who is the best X-Men character? Join the guys and special guest host Derek for a debate to determine which hero—or villain—fits the bill. Then, after the break, our good friend Will joins us for a special Rag-NERD-rok version of The Newlywed Game where Ed and Meyer compete to see which one of them knows him better. Finally, we share some very special emails we received from loyal listener Robert P.

This month, we tackle that crazy little thing called fanon. When the creators of your favorite media leave you in the dark, the impulse to speculate and try to shed some light is only natural. What does this mean for the average geek media aficionado in the digital age? Head canon, fan theories, and works of fan fiction, art and more! Join the Rag-NERD-rok Crew as we discuss some of our thoughts on the matter, along with examples from fandoms we’ve participated in. Afterwards, we’ll scramble to come up with a sketch in Ed’s absence, and read a brand-new five star review!
